My boys went on a little jaunt; just the boys.
On Monday evening they boarded the train, got comfortable in their sleeper car, and slept the night away as they neared their destination. They awoke with the sun, got off the train, caught a taxi to their hotel, and showered up for the day. They decided to explore the local children's museum, where they played with levers, pulleys, water pressure, turtles, and other fun hands-on kids' stuff. My son then went swimming with friends while my husband attended his afternoon meetings. The evening plans included a baseball game, some popcorn, and a real baseball (because one of my husbands' friend knew someone who gave my son a real baseball that was used by the players). After a cozy rest in a five-star hotel, my boys attended a morning meeting then caught a ride with a generous friend out to get our new-to-us semi-truck. The boys then drove the 10+ hour drive home. Well, my husband drove. My son sat in the passenger seat until dark, then he climbed back into the sleeper and had a good snooze.
