Just a Swingin'

She likes to hang out in her swing and watch the world go by...

Sunbonnet Sue

For those non-quilters out there, Sunbonnet Sue is a quilt pattern that was developed in the very early 1900s. It features a girl, usually in profile, with a hat covering her face. Sunbonnet Sam came along later, feature a boy with a hat over his head, but Sunbonnet Sue is the classic.

Dear Uncle Rob

My mom has pictures of Uncle Rob, when he was little, lining up matchbox cars on the couch. He would spend lots of time lining things up.

Just like her.

Too Small

My son was FREEZING COLD on the drive home and asked for a jacket. The only jacket we had was for his baby sister.

He put it on anyway. And laughed the way home.

What a Waste of Time

My kids just don't understand why their aunts and uncles want to sleep the day away when they could be playing.

Tough Pink

My two-year-old daughter is such a mix of pink, pretty things and muddy, tough things. She loves pink and dresses and pretty necklaces. She also loves mud puddles and trains and tractors. I have so enjoyed watching her Personality grow and develop. She's quite a little girl.

I can only imagine the titles she might win.

Title 1: Little Miss Muddy Gardener - In a muddy pink skirt.

Title 2: Little Miss Tools.

Title 3: Little Miss Mud - she wasn't at all concerned that her "pink bow hat" was muddy.

Title 4: Quarterback In Pink - I really hope not.

Auction

I went to an auction today. I stood outside in the hot sun for two hours watching people sweat and listening to a guy babble on about prices.

It was so much fun! I haven't been to an auction for several years, and I had forgotten how much I enjoy it. I love looking through the loads and loads of miscellaneous junk; looking for obscure treasures. Treasures that you hope no one else will want, and just perhaps you will be able to get it for a really low bid. I so enjoy the bidding. I decide what price is the top, and hope it goes for less, all the while knowing that I don't NEED this, it's just a want, so if I don't get it, that's okay. But I hope I win it. I want to be the top bidder. There is some satisfaction in being the one to flash your bid number at the auctioneer, knowing my number is the one to be recorded by the clerk.

I am going to put more auctions in my schedule.

Tire

Why am I (and every other mother of young children) so tired at the end of the day?*

*read post below

Yesterday

Yesterday, I:

1) washed and dried six loads of laundry, folded them, and put the clothes away.
2) washed my bedding and made my bed.
3) picked the peas in the garden and shelled them, with my two little helpers.
4) picked and cooked down two zucchinis.
5) served breakfast, lunch, and supper to myself and three kids.
6 ) vacuumed, of course.
7) bought groceries, unloaded them, and put them away.
8) played outside with the kids.
9) gave three dirty kids a bath.
10) bought groceries.
11) dropped of a meal at a friend's house (she just had a little baby boy!).
12) got to see a week-old sweet little baby!
13) made cookies.
14) mailed letters and postcards.
15) ordered million dollar bills online for cheap. Really. They are cool! If you let me know you want one, I can send one to you!

Thank you

Project of the week:

My little baby sister just graduated from high school. *sob* She had several thank you cards to write, SO, being the creative individual that she is, she decided to make her own thank you cards.
1) I took some pictures of her holding a "thank you" sign.
2) We printed out the pictures (wallet size).
3) She made very cute and unique cards using the pictures and some of my scrap paper (out of my massive amount of scrapbooking supplies).
